Week 7 and 8

I learned a lot during weeks 7 and 8. To start, during week 7 I learned about the concepts of measurement. We learned a lot of definitions. Population is the entire group of people for whom typical performance is estimated by the snstrument. Sample is the group of people actually included in the testing/study. Norming refers to the process of constructing norms or the typical performance or group of individuals on achievement assessment. We then learned about mean, median and mode. Mean is averaging, you add them and divide by how many there are. Median is the middle number. Mode is the number that occurs the most. Range is the difference between the highest and lowest number. We lastly learned about normal curve and standard divation. Normal curve is a bell-shaped curve that represents the usual distribution of human attributes. Standard diviation is the distance scores depart from the mean.  In week 8 we put these into action. We went onto excel and created grpahs off of the data pr

Week 6 Reflection

I learned a lot during week 6. On Wednesday we learned about alignment in the classroom. To start we talked about backward design. Backward design is when you identify desired results, determine acceptable evidence, and plan learning experiences and instruction. There are three steps for standards and objectives. Step one is to start with the standard. You then create an objective. Lastly, you create an assessment. Learning objectives should include action verbs that are observable and measurable. They should be relevant to the curriculum standards. They should be developmentally appropriate for the age and background of students. They should promote learning across learning domains. On Wednesday we also did an activity with a small group. We had to look at the standard and use the ABCD to create an objective. We created an objective based on two different versions of Goldilocks and The Three Bears.  On Friday we talked about the lesson plans we are doing in math methods. We worked wi
