Week 6 Reflection
I learned a lot during week 6. On Wednesday we learned about alignment in the classroom. To start we talked about backward design. Backward design is when you identify desired results, determine acceptable evidence, and plan learning experiences and instruction. There are three steps for standards and objectives. Step one is to start with the standard. You then create an objective. Lastly, you create an assessment. Learning objectives should include action verbs that are observable and measurable. They should be relevant to the curriculum standards. They should be developmentally appropriate for the age and background of students. They should promote learning across learning domains. On Wednesday we also did an activity with a small group. We had to look at the standard and use the ABCD to create an objective. We created an objective based on two different versions of Goldilocks and The Three Bears.
On Friday we talked about the lesson plans we are doing in math methods. We worked with a group to discuss what we could do better in our lesson plan based on the assessment. I feel like this helped me because it was an outsider's point of view. It helped me to realize that I could improve my lesson plan in the section of the assessment. Overall, I feel this class was very beneficial for me!
Hi Bailey! You did a great job explaining the Backward Design model and why it is important to use for lesson planning. I also thought that discussing our math lesson plans in groups was very beneficial! Great post :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for refreshing my memory on the Backward Design model. For some reason I feel like that detail blew right pass me due to business last week. I remember your groups objective on the Goldilocks and the three bears, and I think you did a good job on making it match ABCD and developmentally appropriate. Great job!
